Cookie for hire!

CookiePortfolio.jpg

I’ve met Cookie a few times in the Owl and Pussycat. He’s a great designer / illustrator that’s worked at glue and Poke who’s looking for work again.

He’s just got back from walking 3,000 miles for charity; so if you like his work and want to team up, drop him a line: cookie {at} made-in-england.org.

Dead Set Credits

I’ve just watched the re-run of Charlie Brooker’s excellent Dead Set on E4. No long list of cast and crew at the end, just a URL.

I’ve seen this done once before… Chris Morris’ Jam.

It’s great to see Brooker use this technique to combat his dreaded foe, the “end credit squeeze”.

Kudos to these guys for finding a way to thank the team properly.

Awesome film posters with brand integration

Posted: November 25th, 2008 | Author: admin | Filed under: Advertising, Design, Visual | Tags: , , , , | View Comments

I went to see Quantum Of Solace last week but found myself getting massively frustrated watching scenes from the film in ads for a shit watch and a crap phone just before the start.

Product placement is often backed up with “Brand X. Official Partner of..” advertising nowadays. That was annoying, but these are brilliant.

Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality is hot property at the moment. Using Motion Capture and modeling you can create amazing animations in a full 3D environment.

We just used some in a pitch and the client was blown away.

Until recently you needed to spend a good amount of money to get the most out of AR.

That’s just changed.

Using only a webcam and the latest version of Papervision / FLARToolkit library, Digital Pictures have taken their character from the desktop to the desk.

It’s offers a new and exciting way to interact with flash content. The possibilities are wide open.

Having messed around with AR for the last 3 months I’ve gotta say that getting this working in Flash is a mightily impressive achievement.

Yeah, he was gracious and all, but where was the smugness? Where was the payback? Where was the twattishness?

We all thought it was home made, but it turns out it’s actually a bloody good campaign from Adobe.

I’ve convinced myself the first one I saw didn’t have the subtle CS4 box in the corner, but now i’m not so sure.

Hats off to Adobe either way!!
