This is not human-piloted. The vehicles/ball are tracked by an overhead motion capture system and controlled by a pair of computers.

A Rubik’s Cube solver designed and programmed using a Nokia N95 mobile phone, a LEGO Mindstorms NXT and lots of LEGO technic pieces!

Very cool. I think I was rushing a bit in the office listening to that trancefest.
